Reader Project: Compressor Mobile

reader project compressor cart

I got tired of making three or four trips from my garage to the project I was working on while lugging my heavy air compressor, so this was my solution.

I found a welding cart at a local discount hardware store and realized that my air compressor would fit on the tank tray. I bolted the compressor onto the tray and mounted hard rubber pads under the cart so that when it is tipped up and running it won’t vibrate or mark floors.

I mounted a box onto the top tank supports for storing my brad nailer, staple guns, etc. The welding rod tray works perfect for holding nails, staples and other accessories. The cart tips back on the wheels and it even moves easily up or down steps, around the shop or through doorways, and the handle makes a great place for stashing hoses or extension cords. — Dave Dufek
