Reader Project: Home Theater

I built this 13×20-ft. home theater from scratch, only bare concrete foundation walls and existing load-bearing walls were in this room when I started.

The only thing I needed help with was installing the carpet, so I hired professionals for that. The electricity is on three circuits: lights, A/V system and miscellaneous.

The sound system is a 9.2 with a total of 3000w. Bass shakers are installed in all reclining seats. Many of the tasks involved were eased considerably by the education provided by The Family Handyman—including, but no limited to, electrical work, drywall installation and woodworking. — Todd Rice
