Vise-Grips to Pull Nails

After a fire, I had to gut my house. The nails in the old floor were very hard to pull out, as some of the heads were rusted and fell apart when I grabbed them with the claw of a hammer. So I started using my Vise-Grip pliers, instead, and the curve of the head proved to be perfect for securely gripping the nails and easily pulling them out. It worked like a charm! — Marvin Mason

When using Vise-Grip pliers to pull nails, it’s important to lock the jaws onto the nail as close as possible to the material you’re pulling the nail from. That way, you’ll get the most leverage out of the curve of the tool. Also, use a putty knife or piece of sturdy scrap material under the head of the pliers, as shown in the photo, if you wish to salvage the material after removing the nails.
